Operators and 300 Ton Shine on I-75 Bridge Project

300 Ton Grove
J.J. Curran Crane recently provided our Grove Model 6300, 300 ton capacity truck crane, for a new bridge project over the north and south bound lanes of I-75 at M21 in Flint, Mi.

The project entailed setting six (6) bridge beams per night over a 4 night period. Each beam weighed 92,000 pounds with a radius of 55 feet.

Major constraints for the job were limited space (of course) for setting up the crane, and storing the crane after hours.  We had a 5 hour window from midnight to 5am to set the beams, and we had 15 minutes of lane closure to set each beam. The first two nights were spent on the north bound side.

The crane then removed its’ counterweights and moved to the south bound side and repeated the process. The contractor, Dan’s Excavating, gave our operator and oiler rave reviews for their performance. It was another example of projects being completed safely, efficiently and right on schedule.
