Uplifting Outlook

J.J. Curran's Financial Analyst, Mike Coffman, reports optimism:

The last 18 months has been a challenging business environment. Twelve months ago we were in a economic freefall and it seemed like we would never reach bottom. Today there is some hope to believe that we have reached the floor and that there will be a way out. While we are certainly a long way from the boom times that we experienced during the peak; there is hope and optimism for the future in our market. Many leading economic indicators are showing positive trends. Although economic activity may change over the years our commitment to our customers has never changed; it’s really quite simple: quality equipment, quality people, and a fair price. We stood by you for the last sixty years and we look forward to many more years of servicing our customer’s needs.

SC&RA Crane Operator Award

Pat Farr presented with Operator Safety Award

Crane Operator, Pat Farr, was recently awarded the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association Crane & Rigging Group Crane Operator Award. The award is given to crane operators who exhibit exemplary work achievements while accumulating 10,000 consecutive man hours while recording zero accidents and incidents. In addition, the operator must have Zero lost calendar days, recordable injuries or illness according to the OSHA Log 300. Pat has worked over 31,000 hours while recording zeros in each of these categories.

As stated in Pat's nominating letter, "Pat's commitment to safety and attention to detail has led to zero injuries in his 14 years employed at J.J. Curran Crane. Daily inspections and crane maintenance are completed in a thorough manner as well as job site safety assessments. Pat is certified by the NCCO and has completed all required safety training including the MUST Safety Program and several site specific programs. He leads his coworkers by example and customers often compliment his work and professionalism."

J.J. Curran Crane would like to recognize and congratulate Pat on this achievement.

SC&RA Annual Conference

Linda CurranLarry and Linda Curran's involvement in the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association continues. At this year's Annual Conference April 6-10 in Orlando, FL, J.J. Curran Crane President, Larry Curran, was elected to the Board and will serve a three-year term. He will maintain his position as a committee member of the Crane & Rigging Group.

As Chair of the Ladies Group, one of Linda Curran's responsibilities was organizing and planning the SC&RA Foundation Gala that provides money for scholarships and industry wide research projects. The theme for the event was "Lady and the Tramp." Two raffles were supported generously by attendees and the Gala proved to be a great evening. The Ladies Group is pictured below courtesy of the SC&RA. This meeting concluded Linda's year as Chair and her post was handed to Patty Mc Tyre of Mc Tyre Trucking in Orlando, FL.SC&RA Women's Group

As always, the SC&RA Conference was well attended and successful in renewing friendships as well as making new industry contacts. J.J. Curran is proud of it's membership and involvement in this fine industry association.
